Fast ForWord is an online program and may be accessed from the convenience of school or the comfort of home. Based on research-based dosage recommendations, your child will participate in the prescribed games five days per week for 30 minutes each day. Your child may complete the 30 minutes online before school, during the day, after school, or on the weekend. The days and times that your child engages with the program may vary to accommodate your scheduling needs as long as he or she participates five days a week (for most weeks) for about 30 minutes each day.
Each day when your child logs in, the adaptive program will assign two or three games to play and track detailed data regarding pacing, errors, and mastery. Once per week, you will receive an automated email with information about your child’s performance in each of the skill/ability areas.
Fast ForWord addresses underlying cognitive processes weaknesses, including working memory, attention, processing speed, auditory processing, phonological processing, and language processing. Fast ForWord serves as a potent adjunct to an intensive literacy or math intervention program as it helps the brain build more robust neural circuitry and enhances your child’s response to instruction.
Fast ForWord provides intensive training that is adaptive to your child’s progress and challenges. The change Fast ForWord affords your child’s brain is lasting and does not need to be repeated. In a sense, Fast ForWord softens the soil of your child’s brain as it builds a better root system on a cognitive level, strengthening working memory, attention, processing speed, auditory processing, phonological processing, and language processing. This development of underlying cognitive abilities (that are instrumental to learning) empowers your child to gain more from specialized intervention and classroom instruction.
Fast ForWord has been scientifically validated as a highly effective intervention through numerous studies by universities, including Stanford, Harvard, MIT, Rutgers, and many other prestigious institutions. Fast ForWord has been and continues to be proven through research to work for various language and reading issues.
Fast ForWord is designed for students aged five or older. Replicated, scientific research has demonstrated its effectiveness for learners with reading delays, dyslexia, speech/language issues, ADHD, autism, and auditory processing issues. Research also demonstrates that it enhances cognitive function which supports the child’s success in other subject areas, including math and content areas.
To use Fast ForWord, your child will need good internet connectivity and a device with an amply sized screen. Additionally, a headset is strongly recommended as this increases the clarity of the auditory output and decreases distractions for your child.
